"Poetry is silent voice that is heard everywhere inside of us.."- Unknown
Ode
You picked me up and calmed me down
You held me close and removed my frown
When I was wrong we talked it out
You show me everyday what life is about
I remember each time you called me your princess
You called my phone and told me not to stress
My mom plays around and asks me why
I just don't know maybe it is cause you are my D A D D Y
Memory Poem
I knew it was bright outside, but inside it was dark and gloomy
There were things there that I have never seen before
I stumbled to walk up the stairs
That was my feet telling me to go
But I kicked off my shoes instead
Musky, but yet dirty for some reason I couldn't tell the difference between the two
Rested my hands against the wall as I leaned against it
Quickly jumping away from the wall It was as if my hands were covered in dirt & sin
Chills took over me, I was wrapped in ice.
Blanket of sin folded under me
My clothes weren't doing the job
Eyes closed I'm now wrapped in sin
I sense a presence I look to see
But this person changed something is different
"Sit up, Push away"
But no......
M mind shuts down all of my knowledge gone
Everything I was told gone
Voices are at distance
Voices of people I know aren't
There fade in & out as if on repeat
Five minutes later all I feel is pressure SonnetOh I wish for the summer breeze
Because in the winter Im not at ease
I wait for the touch of the sun
That's when I know summer has begun
I wish to hear the waves speaking
Plenty of buried emotions in the sand
I want to gather shells in my hands
And laugh at cups of lemonade leaking
About My Poetry When I write it comes a lot of it comes from within. I let my emotions run wild, but when I’m angry I don’t let that always take control, I don’t want to slash out in my poetry. Poetry to me calming something with a deeper meaning, so to me writing from being really angry it makes rough. Not rough and edgy, it’s seems like it is every where. I write from my point of view of life, how I feel about the way things are. Instead of me saying the wrong thing out loud directly, I rather say it indirectly with a better meaning. I’m also able to target different topics at one time that relates to each other. I like to approach life with my poetry.

Kidnap Poem
Ever been kidnapped
by a poet
if i were a poet
i'd kidnap you
put you in my phrases and meter
You to jones beach or maybe coney island or maybe just to my house lyric you in lilacs dash you in the rain blend into the beach to complement my see
Play the lyre for you
ode you with my love song
anything to win you
wrap you in the red Black green
show you off to mama
yeah if i were a poet i'd kid
nap you
And I Have You
Rain has drops
Sun has shine
Moon has beams
That make you mine
Rivers have banks Sands for shores Hearts have heartbeats That make me yours
Needles have eyes Though pins may prick Elmer has glue To make things stick
Winter has Spring Stockings feet Pepper has mint To make it sweet
Teachers have lessons Soup du jour Lawyers sue bad folks Doctors cure
All and all
This much is true
You have me
And I have you
Seduction
one day you gonna walk in this house and i'm gonna have a long African gown you'll sit down and say "The Black..." and i'm gonna take one arm out then you-not noticing me at all- will say "What about this brother..." and i'm going to be slipping it over my head and you'll rap on about "The revolution..." while i rest your hand against my stomach you'll go on-as you always do- saying "I just can't dig..." while i'm moving your hand up and down and i'll be taking your dashiki off then you'll say "What we really need..." and taking your shorts off the you'll notice your state of undress and knowing you you'll just say "Nikki/ isn't this counterrevolutionary..."
Kid nap Poem
By: Nikki Giovanni Analysis
In this poem the narrator wants to take words and just do something amazing to it. Make it have a new meaning, they way that she describes it makes it easy to see. If one ever written any form of poetry you know what she is talking about. One is proud of it and wants to take it to another level but those words do not belong them. Therefore if one were a poet they would want to kid nap those words that they wish to hold.
And I Have You
By: Nikki Giovanni Analysis
In this poem the narrator is saying what has what. Ones feelings for someone they compare, it to another. That comparison is an expression for how one feels to have someone in their life. The narrator kept it very simple, where a person did not have to do much thinking.
Seduction
By: Nikki Giovanni Analysis
The narrator was more sexual with this poem, but it wasn't over the top. It described it differently then other narrators would have the male reaction was completely different and it was kind of unexpected.
